Art Trade - Aiden

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to finish this with the speed I did. And I took the time to add some random details that I don't usually (light skin texturing, and an experiment in adding a little bit of body hair).

Anyway, this is an art trade with ~erin-hime, of her character Aiden Flanagan. Aiden is what is called a half-breed vampire (that is, a human turned into a vampire), and when half-breeds drink human blood, their eyes turn red. Bright red. He's presented as a sympathetic character, although with his eyes still red, I get the impression he's still not too picky where his meals come from.

I actually had a completely different idea at first, but then ~erin-hime mentioned that we could just do a minimal background, so while that's great for me, it...wouldn't really work with my idea. (In hindsight, my idea wouldn't really be suited to Aiden anyway). So I just went looking for a good pose to reference, found one, and started sketching. It's not very dynamic, I know.

He's doing the Gap Ad Formation, you see. It's the most feared of all vampire moves. (Yeah, sometime during the sketching process I just said screw it -- he looks like he's posing so let's make this as male model-ish as I possibly can.) I think he's not bad looking here myself. It might be the new haircut he got between books, or it might be the fact that I made that t-shirt ridiculously tight. >_>

Also tried to play up the red/green contrasts (being a redhead with red eyes, green is exceptionally flattering on him), though I'm not sure it worked. I also could have swore ~erin-hime had once shown him in this particular shirt, but for the life of me I couldn't find a picture of him wearing it. I could have been mistaken, but if that's the case, I have no idea where I got the idea from in the first place.

Anyway, it might not be very dynamic, but I'm pleased with the outcome, and I hope you are too, ~erin-hime!
