Art Trade - Prom Night

Break out the Brylcreem, grab your buckled shoes, and download for full view, because it's prom night in the roaring (twenty-)twenties!

My long, long, long overdue half of an art trade with ~erin-hime; these two stunners are Ari(anna) and Dev(in) Cartwright, now with ten percent more accuracy, and ninety percent more blatantly nineteen-twenties influence.

I apologise for taking ridiculously long on this. I tried a slightly different technique compared to what I usually use, starting out with dark shades and gradually transitioning to light ones. It turned out...well, I don't like to boast, but I love how it turned out. Especially the skin. Ari's eyes in particular grab me for some reason.

You might notice Ari's dress looks a little familiar. I thought it would be a nice touch. It was originally going to be chock full of beading to mark the low waist, but I was struck by the idea of using two or three different types of lace to mark where the waist would be.

Also, I know her hair is weird, but apparently it was an actual style worn by women who wanted the look of a bob without actually chopping their hair off. Of course, looking at this through the lens of someone living in a vastly different age, all I can think of is Princess Leia. It's...sort of cute, though.

I also think Devin looks incredibly sharp here. (Never mind that I'd be in my forties by then and he's not real. I can admire him through space and time. ) I mean, he's got a classy look going to him...at least until you get to his feet, and he ruins the whole thing by wearing Converses. I'm getting the idea that you'd have to wrestle those shoes off him if you wanted him to wear anything else, and even then it's no guarantee. But he's just following in his father's footsteps. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Anyway, I again apologise for it taking ridiculously long to finish this, but I only hope you like the results, ~erin-hime. I don't want to go so far as to ask if it was worth the wait, since there are more important things worth waiting two weeks for, but...yeah, I really hope you like it.
