Hiding

Whew, this has been a long time in the making. I sketched it back in late March, and just finished it up the other day. Yeesh. >.< I suppose this is what I get for wanting to do it traditionally, for some reason; you wait until you can get your hands on some coloured pencils...and then you just let it slip. >.o

Colouring this, while fun, did remind me why I don't do too many traditional picture any more because I'm lazy; doing things digitally is a whole lot easier in terms of clean-up and supplies. Still, I like how it turned out, even if it didn't quite turn out the way I'd imagined it. Close enough. >.>

Anyway, this is ~erin-hime's Jane Cartwright, who was only known as 'Ancilla' when I actually sketched it, skulking around Lamia Castle somewhere in her role as a maid. It's just a little degrading for a former (vampire) queen...not to mention it's her son who put her there. Yeah. It's a loving, happy family, those Cartwrights. Ever since ~erin-hime took pains to mention the "Hall of Kings" in Lamia Castle (which is exactly what it sounds like, portraits of all the former vampire kings)...well, you can understand why I'd totally want to put her in that setting. >.> Don't know who that one portrait is of, all I know is that I looked for some of the oldest clothing I could find. >.>

Some things could have been better, even with me fixing it up in Photoshop (Jane looks like a human with fangs in the original, far too saturated for my liking; also, reds never scan well, and I don't know why) but it doesn't look too bad once I fixed it up a bit. The uniform's sort of cute, if you overlook the fact that it's supposed to make her (and all the other maids) look like sex objects. The pink really stands out, and works nicely with all the black (then again, any colour would look nice against a black and white colour scheme, it's just that pink goes well with black to begin with). Oh, Jane. You tell that jerkass son of yours. You will not bow to his wishes and wear plain (white?) lacing like everyone else!
